The Comfort of Familiarity

Memories of people and events are often blurred by time. When a person runs into a former partner, they might fall into the trap of being too comfortable with a familiar person. The couple can sometimes pick up where they left their relationship, and they will find it enjoyable for a while. As time passes, the old issues will eventually find their way into the middle of the relationship. This causes extreme stress, and the couple must choose to fix the problems or end the relationship again.

Being familiar with a person leads to comfort, but it does not always make a relationship work. Sinking into the false happiness caused by this comfort can lead a person to make bad decisions and reconnect with an unsuitable partner. It takes maturity to know when reconnecting might work out, and it takes wisdom to walk away from a former love who will never change.
